Human Factors Activities – Johan Sverdrup

The Johan Sverdrup field is one of the largest oil fields on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, and its similarly large field centre is being developed by Statoil. Initially consisting of four platforms connected by three bridges, the field centre will expand further in the future.

HFS have personnel contracted to Aker Solutions to lead the FEED phase human factors work. Areas of focus include the Central Control Room (CCR) and control suite, the Local Service Centre (LSC) for each platform, the Helicopter Traffic Control Centre (HTCC), the Driller Control Centre (DCC) and the interfaces between these.


  • Lead and conduct the human factors activities
  • Create Human Factors Integration Plan
  • Perform technology assessments
  • Perform function, task, workload and communication analyses
  • Perform model reviews
  • Specify design requirements
